I'm exploring a universal visual language that embraces and transcends separate cultures … that can heal by integrating images from widely disparate sources. Micro-photographs and tribal art. Natural forms and archetypal symbols. Crop circles forming grounded sacred geometries.

Our planet home floats in deep space, profuse with "stars" made of tiny tungsten atoms in their crystalline light-diffraction pattern. Spiraling above Earth is a heart-shaped labyrinth centered in the middle east. Around the planet, a circular labyrinth becomes the folds of a brain, reflecting an emerging planetary consciousness.
Inspired by the Mary Oliver poem "White Owl Flies Into And Out of the Field": "… so I thought: maybe death isn't darkness after all, but so much light wrapping itself around us — as soft as feathers … that we … let ourselves be carried to the river that is nothing but light … in which we are washed and washed out of our bones."

The handprints of 13 women friends encircle a jeweled world whose labyrinthine forms are
mythical female figures woven by Kayabi Indians of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The handwritten words are from the song "Prayer of the Children" composed by Kurt Bestor during the war in Bosnia:

Can you feel the hearts of the children
Aching for home,
for something of their very own?
Reaching hands with nothing to hold on to,
but hope for a better day, a better day.

A single living leaf falls before its time. Companions in a pool mirror other leaves, freed from their trees, transforming into stars. Leaf-Spirit glows amidst a radiating pattern -- sound made visible -- sand particles dancing together on a vibrating metal disc. The Creation sings of renewal and rebirth

Spirals dance as fluid new worlds emerge from a parallel universe into the shared deep space of stars and subatomic particles . . . all bounded by Moroccan, Maori, Taoist, African, runes, and magnetic-domain patterns.
Random tangle of cedar branch arms curving upwards in death, embracing blue sky. This wooden web weaves its tangle of threads between chaos and order, crocheting a geometric symmetric star into being.

A pattern moves from pine bark to glass panes, from seeming-chaos to order. The images are from 37 Views from Lone Bobcat Woods, drawings and paintings made in the span of a year as I looked out each window from our house on 160 acres of forest land in the west slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
